Data Encryption and Redundancy Explained

How your evidence is encrypted, where it's stored, and how redundancy protects it against loss.

Your evidence is only as valuable as it is safe. This article explains how Evidence Locker protects data through encryption and redundancy.

Encryption at rest and in transit

  • At rest. Data stored in Evidence Locker is encrypted on disk, so the raw storage is unreadable without the keys.
  • In transit. Data moving between you and the platform is protected with modern TLS, so it can't be intercepted or tampered with en route.

Together, these ensure your evidence is never exposed in the clear — not on the wire, not on the disk.

Redundant, certified storage

Evidence is stored in redundant data centers certified for SOC 2 and ISO 27001. Redundancy means your data exists in more than one place, so a single hardware or facility failure doesn't put it at risk. Certification means the facilities meet independently audited security and operational standards.

Evidence Locker operates across multiple regions, including:

  • US-CENTRAL (Texas)
  • US-EAST (Virginia)
  • US-WEST (Oregon)
  • EU-CENTRAL (Amsterdam)
  • AP-NORTHWEST (Tokyo)

Integrity verification

Encryption and redundancy keep data safe and available; hashing keeps it provably unchanged. Every artifact is hashed at acquisition, and that fingerprint can be re-verified at any time to confirm the data is identical to what was originally collected.

Access protection

Even perfectly encrypted data must be reachable only by the right people. Evidence Locker enforces:

  • Role-based access control, so users see only what their role permits.
  • Two-factor authentication for every user.
  • Comprehensive audit logging of every access.

The complete picture

Protection is layered: encryption guards the data, redundancy guards against loss, hashing guards integrity, and access controls guard against unauthorized viewing. No single control carries the whole burden — together they keep your evidence secure, available, and defensible.
